1. Scope, operator and purpose
These Terms of Use govern the free, privately operated StormWeatherEU Discord Bot and its use on Discord servers where it is installed. This Netlify website publishes legal information about that bot only, not the separate main StormWeatherEU website.
The operator is identified in the Legal Notice. Users should also comply with Discord's own rules and the rules of the Discord server concerned.
2. Free service and no entitlement to features
The bot is provided as a non-commercial hobby project without subscription fees or paid commands. There is no promise that any specific function will remain available permanently or at all times.
No paid-service contract is created simply by invoking a bot command. Mandatory statutory rights, where applicable, are not affected.
3. Conditions for use
Users need a Discord account and access to a server where the bot is installed, subject to the rules and age requirements of Discord. Features may require particular channel permissions or server roles.
Members are responsible for their own actions through the service and must not attempt to bypass authorisation restrictions or misuse privileged commands.
4. Weather information and data sources
Weather information may be supplied using Open-Meteo, the German Weather Service (DWD), Bright Sky and other specifically identified data sources. Forecasts are model-based estimates, not guarantees of future conditions.
Forecasts and measurements can change or be delayed. The source and time of the underlying information should be considered before using it in important decisions.
5. Official warnings and safety decisions
DWD warning information displayed by the bot may concern a wider warning district rather than the exact location submitted. There may be delays, source outages or temporary differences between the bot and the official DWD service.
For dangerous weather and emergencies, consult official DWD warnings and follow directions issued by competent authorities. Bot output is not an official warning or a substitute for emergency instructions.
6. Weather radar, reflectivity and model fields
Radar reflectivity, precipitation charts, CAPE, CIN, wind shear, satellite imagery and forecast models are technical products that need interpretation. Their values do not by themselves prove that a particular hazardous event will occur at a specific address.
Users should consider the sources, update intervals, limitations and uncertainty of individual models and products. The bot is not an official meteorological authority.
7. Features and changes to commands
The bot may offer weather enquiries, forecasts, alerts, weather education, informational commands, community features, moderation tools, server logs and AutoMod. Availability varies according to permissions and configuration.
Commands may be renamed, added, limited or removed for maintenance, legal, performance or safety reasons. Published command lists are descriptive and may not match every enabled server configuration.
8. Rules of conduct and prohibited uses
Users must not employ the bot to harass, threaten, discriminate against, impersonate or disclose private information about other people. Spam, malware, fraudulent links, credential theft, attempts to evade bans or to exploit vulnerabilities are prohibited.
Members must comply with applicable law, Discord's policies and the relevant server rules. The bot must not be treated as permission to collect, publish or misuse the data of others.
9. AutoMod purpose and criteria
Where enabled, AutoMod checks content against configured rules such as spam frequency, duplicate messages, prohibited invitations or links, specified words, mass mentions or excessive capitalisation.
Automated detection is fallible and may flag legitimate speech. Administrators should use proportionate settings and maintain a path for human review of disputed sanctions.
10. Warnings, deleted messages and timeouts
A detected violation can result in removal of a message, an AutoMod warning or a temporary timeout if the relevant function is active. The severity and conditions are determined by the actual server settings.
There is no general rule in these Terms allowing arbitrary automatic bans or kicks. Moderation remains subject to the server's rules, applicable laws and any configured exemptions.
11. Appealing AutoMod decisions
Members may submit an appeal using the GalaxyBot support-ticket system. They should describe the moderation action and explain why they believe it was incorrect, without submitting unrelated sensitive material.
Only the owner and administrators make the final determination on an appeal. Moderators may assist or forward a case, but they are not the final appeals authority under the stated internal procedure.
12. Moderation by server staff
Authorised staff may apply manual moderation measures in accordance with server rules and Discord permissions. Individual actions should be reasonable and documented where appropriate.
Moderation by human staff and automatic measures are not identical. The operator may correct mistakes and reassess measures after an appeal or new information.
13. Server logs and records
For server security and traceability, the bot can post configured events such as joins, moderation actions and permission changes to dedicated, private Discord channels. These logs may contain user IDs, times, event types and other available metadata.
Normal logs are intended for the owner, administrators and authorised moderators. Logs concerning administrator/moderator rights and bot-configuration changes are intended for the owner and administrators only.
Logs are manually reviewed for necessity at least every 30 days. This is not a promise that every event disappears automatically after 30 days.
14. Support tickets through GalaxyBot
Support requests and appeals use the independent GalaxyBot service. The service may process messages, user identifiers, attachments and complete ticket transcripts.
Users should include only information needed to resolve their request, avoid sharing passwords or secret tokens, and treat support tickets as confidential conversations with the authorised support team rather than public channels.
15. Tickets, archiving and deletion
When a ticket is closed, its Discord ticket channel may be deleted while a transcript copy is posted to a private log channel. The operator's stated aim is to manually remove such Discord copies within 30 days after closure unless a specific lawful reason justifies longer retention.
Automatic deletion has not been implemented. Deleting a Discord copy or closing a ticket is not necessarily the same as removing the corresponding GalaxyBot case or provider-held records. GalaxyBot's privacy notice describes deletion upon deletion of the related ticket record; the actual procedure must be verified before a complete-deletion claim can be made.
Questions about personal data and deletion can be submitted using the contact details in the Legal Notice.
16. Privacy, confidentiality and authorised access
The bot processes personal data to provide functions, maintain server safety and handle requests. The intended access restrictions provide ordinary log and ticket visibility to the owner, administrators and authorised moderators, and enhanced log access only to the owner and administrators.
Members and staff may not disclose private ticket messages or internal logging information outside the legitimate purposes for which access was granted. See the Privacy Policy for further details.
17. Credentials and bot security
Users must not reveal or request bot tokens, passwords, API keys or other persons' access credentials. Security issues should be reported responsibly using the contact information in the Legal Notice, not exploited or disclosed in a way that facilitates attacks.
The operator seeks to maintain secure bot configurations and updated software, but cannot guarantee that all bugs or external disruptions are impossible. Administrative commands must remain restricted to authorised roles.
18. Community features and user contributions
Suggestions, polls and other community features must be used truthfully and respectfully, without impersonation, disclosure of private information or infringement of other people's rights.
Unless stated otherwise, polls and votes made using bot commands are informal community features, not official government or binding legal elections. Content may be moderated or removed under server rules.
19. Third-party services and links
The bot may use or link to Discord, Infynix, Open-Meteo, DWD, Bright Sky, GalaxyBot and Netlify. These providers maintain their own services, terms and privacy notices.
A link to an external website does not make that website part of the StormWeatherEU Discord Bot service. Third-party websites may change independently and should be evaluated under their own rules.
20. Attribution and intellectual property
Weather datasets, maps, official warnings and brand names may be subject to source-specific conditions, attribution requirements or other rights. Users must not strip required credits or redistribute protected materials contrary to the relevant licence.
Original texts or graphics may also be protected by copyright. These Terms do not transfer rights to third-party maps, weather datasets or trademarks.
21. Availability, maintenance and development
The bot may be temporarily offline for maintenance, updates, hosting outages or changes to Discord and weather API services. API rate limits or data-source disruptions may affect responses.
Functions can be modified for operational, legal or security reasons. The operator aims to communicate significant changes where practical but does not guarantee 24/7 availability or immediate responses.
22. Liability and limitations of information
Content is provided with the aim of being informative and as up to date as reasonably possible. Nevertheless forecasts, measurements, warning lookups and source links may be incomplete, delayed or incorrect.
These Terms do not attempt to exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or other mandatory statutory cases under applicable law.
Official warnings and emergency instructions take precedence over general bot responses.
23. Changes to these rules
These Terms may be revised when bot features, data processing, third-party providers or server rules change materially. The published version will identify its revision date.
Where appropriate and feasible, important changes should also be communicated on Discord. A later revision does not retrospectively remove existing statutory rights, and separate consent must be obtained where legally required.
24. Contact, reports and privacy requests
Users can contact kontakt@stormweathereu.com for questions, bug reports, security concerns or privacy requests. AutoMod appeals are handled through GalaxyBot tickets, subject to that provider's ticket-processing rules.
The Privacy Policy explains data-subject rights and the distinction between the bot operator's own records and records held by independent providers.
25. Official provider resources
26. Final provisions and document status
If an individual clause is invalid, applicable statutory provisions govern to the extent required, and this does not automatically invalidate the remaining clauses insofar as the law permits. Mandatory rights remain unaffected.
These Terms were drafted from the operator's description of the bot configuration. An individual legal review is recommended before publication, particularly if the bot is used on other servers or the moderation and ticket arrangements change.
Draft dated: 30 October 2026.
